In order to maintain a safe, healthy environment for families, children, and staff, the following procedures are in place:

• Temperatures of students and staff are taken daily.

• Hands are washed immediately upon entering the building and before and after each activity.

• Admittance to the building during school hours is limited to staff and students only.

• Drop off and pick up is curbside this year. 

• Teachers and students wear masks at all times. Strategies have been implemented to comply with social distancing.

• Table dividers/shields are used at the tables in the classrooms.

• Disinfecting is continuous throughout the day (tables, chairs, door knobs, light switches, stair rails, etc.)  The bathroom is cleaned after each use. 

• Children's art supplies are stored in their own "cubby" to reduce cross contamination.  

• Toys and manipulatives are rotated so they can be adequately disinfected. Toys that cannot be wiped down daily, ie. stuffed animals, soft toys and books, puppets, dress-up clothes and blankets are not in use this year.

NJ Department of Health regarding updated policy (01/2022) on exclusion guidelines is attached here.  Document on symptoms is attached here.   Please note that the guidelines issued for Childcare by the NJ Department of Health in conjunction with the CDC differ from those adopted by the Berkeley Heights Public Schools and do not reflect the reduced timeline. The timeline for our unvaccinated students to follow reflects the timeline the public schools previously adopted.   Those who are vaccinated and are exposed close contacts are not required to quarantine or be excluded if they remain asymptomatic.  Vaccinated close contacts are advised to get tested 5-7 days following exposure, to monitor for symptoms for 14 days, and to wear a mask in indoor public settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.

 

Please be assured that here at school we continue to practice social distancing, enhanced sanitizing and disinfecting, and constant hand washing.  In addition, there is an air purifier and portable sink in every classroom.  We also have air purifiers in the playroom and lunch room!
