CHANGES DUE TO COVID19

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions and to keep our staff and students safe, we have implemented a number of changes to the 2020-2021 academic year including:

  • Class offerings restricted to 3-day 3 year old classes; 3, 4, and 5-day 4 year old classes; and 2 2-day sessions of Kindergarten Enrichment to coincide with Mary Kay McMillin's kindergarten schedule.

  • Class sizes are smaller and limited in order to comply with social distancing.

  • No early drop off, extended day, or afternoon sessions.

  • No field trips.

In order to maintain a safe, healthy environment for families, children, and staff, the following procedures are in place:

  • Temperatures of students and staff are taken daily.

  • Hands are washed immediately upon entering the building and before and after each activity.

  • Admittance to the building during school hours is limited to staff and students only.

  • Drop off and pick up is curbside this year.

  • Teachers and students wear masks at all times. Strategies have been implemented to comply with social distancing.

  • Table dividers/shields are used at the tables in the classrooms.

  • Disinfecting is continuous throughout the day (tables, chairs, door knobs, light switches, stair rails, etc.)  The bathroom is cleaned after each use.

  • Children's art supplies are stored in their own "cubby" to reduce cross contamination.

  • Toys and manipulatives are rotated so they can be adequately disinfected. Toys that cannot be wiped down daily, ie. stuffed animals, soft toys and books, puppets, dress-up clothes and blankets are not in use this year.

NJ Department of Health regarding updated policy (01/2021) on when a child may return to school after COVID compatible symptoms is attached here.  In summary: given the current rate of infection and the fact that COVID symptoms in children are usually mild and may be difficult to distinguish from other illnesses, schools may no longer accept a note from a doctor with an alternative diagnosis. A child may not return to school without a negative test or an "isolation period of at least 10 days since symptom onset and at least 24 hours after resolution of fever without fever-reducing medication..."   Document on symptoms attached here and isolation periods attached here.

Please be assured that here at school we continue to practice social distancing, enhanced sanitizing and disinfecting, and constant hand washing.  In addition, there is an air purifier and portable sink in every classroom!

Thank you for your continued diligence in following our policies and protocols.  We look forward to healthier times ahead!
